Photo Bingo

Create a mobile application which could be used by a news organization to involve their audience in covering a festival while having fun.

Most media markets have one or more major annual multi-day events such as music or food festivals. These are often a place where a community comes together and defines itself, and a media organization which wants to be part of that community will often invest a lot of effort to document the event before, during and after.

Also, media organizations often make word-based bingo cards for watching the Oscars, or debates. In fact, Medill MSJ Steve Melendez has created an open-source kit for generating bingo cards.

Imagine creating a similar application, but integrated with mobile devices which have cameras. To claim a space on the board, a player would snap a photo which shows or embodies the phrase in the word space. With proper curation/oversight, the photos collected could be used “user generated content” for event coverage.
